If you can no longer attend GP18, please send an email to gp18@racgp.org.au requesting a cancellation. Please note that fees and charges may be associated with cancelling your registration. There are no session only registration options available for GP18. We do however have one-day registration available for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

You can attend the ALM day by purchasing a one-day registration for Wednesday 10 October 2018 when selecting your registration option.

Yes, we offer a Visitor Expo registration which $150 per person including GST. This pass entitles access to the GP18 exhibition for the day of your choice including catering; you will also have the opportunity to add on any social events (ticket fees apply) to your visitor pass. Further information will be available on the GP18 website in May 2018.

The only sessions and workshops you need to pre-select during registration are your ALM, CPR Workshop, social events and member meetings. All other sessions are open on a first come basis for seating.

If your partner or guest would like to attend conference sessions, they will need to register for the whole event or for the days they wish to attend.

You can also purchase tickets for partners and guests to attend only the social functions such as the welcome reception, national faculties evening, Foundation walk and Foundation gala dinner.

Guest tickets for these events can be purchased as part of your registration process or you can modify your registration to include them at a later date. We have a helpful online tutorial, which shows you how to modify your registration.

ALMS

You can attend the ALM day by purchasing a one-day registration for Wednesday 10 October 2018 when selecting your registration option.

Registration is only available for one ALM per person as they all occur at the same time and to earn your 40 category QI&CPD points you must be present for the whole ALM.

If your preferred ALM is full, you can register for another ALM and you may also like to be waitlisted for your preferred ALM. This will take place during the registration process.

Yes, you can be placed on a waitlist for an ALM in case a place becomes available. We strongly recommend selecting an ALM with places available if your preferred ALM is full as at past GP Conferences cancellations have not been a common occurrence.

6. Which ALMs are eligible for the Rural Procedural Grants Program (RPGP)?

To determine if your preferred ALM is eligible for the Rural Procedural Grants Program please contact the Faculty of Rural General Practice via rural.procedural.grants@racgp.org.au.

The Clinical Emergency Management Program (CEMP) workshops are eligible and are held before and after GP18 allowing you to attend more conference sessions.

QI&CPD

  • 1. What QI&CPD points will I earn?
1. What QI&CPD points will I earn?

If you attend an ALM on Wednesday 10 October you will earn 40 Category 1 points. For each day of GP18 that you attend (Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 October) you will earn 10 Category 2 points or 30 points in total if you registered as a full delegate.

Undertaking a CPR workshop during GP18 will also allow you to fulfil this requirement for the 2017-19 triennium.

There are several ways that attending GP18 can help with your PLAN. In the exhibition hall we will have a PLAN Zone that will be staffed by RACGP QI&CPD staff members. This zone is set up with computers and the team can help you log on and start your PLAN, explain the process or if you’ve already started, help you continue your PLAN journey.

With a strong education program there are many sessions that will meet the RACGP Curriculum for Australian General Practice and help you fulfil your evidence requirements PLAN.

All GP18 full and day registered delegates will attend a certificate of attendance.

  • 4. How and when will my QI&CPD points be allocated?

In line with QI&CPD requirements, points will be uploaded within 30 days of GP18. Please remember that reinforcing activities must be completed for Category 1 points to be allocated. Should they not be completed in time it may affect when these points are allocated to you. This would affect individuals only.

There are opportunities to fulfil the CPR requirement for this triennium at GP18. Available CPR workshops will be displayed on the GP18 CPR page in the coming months.

The conference runs for 3 days, from Thursday 10 – Saturday 13 October 2018. There is an additional pre-conference ALM day, which you may choose to attend which takes place Wednesday 10 October 2018.

On arrival to the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre, please either enter through the main doors or make your way to the registration desk, which is located directly opposite these doors. Medical student volunteers and RACGP staff will be positioned throughout the centre to help you find your way.

There are two additional mobile registration stations. One is located on the walkway from the Star Hotel to the convention centre. It has a bright pink umbrella and GP18 branding so you can locate it easily.

The second location is on the ground floor of the centre in front of the entry doors to the plenary hall in arena 2.

At GP18 we’re committed to looking after you. There will be a relaxation zone on the RACGP booth where you can take some time out for a short meditation to re-invigorate your mind ready for the next learning opportunities as well as massage stations throughout the exhibition hall.

To make participating as comfortable as possible, the dress code for the conference sessions is smart casual with comfortable shoes.

Below is an outline of each of the activities being held at GP18 and the applicable dress code.

Posters can be viewed in the GP18 exhibition hall, which is accessed from the ground floor of the convention and exhibition centre. A trade floor map will be available on the conference app and also on entry into the exhibition hall.

When you register for GP18 there is a question asking for any dietary requirements. This relates to specific requirements such as gluten free, vegetarian, lactose intolerance and allergies. Please list your requirements in this section. At the event, the dietary specifications of each food item on general buffets and/or food stations will be listed. For any requirements that are not covered by the selections available for all delegates, there will be separate station where your meals will be available. The convention centre and RACGP staff will be on hand to help direct you.

Please note that individual food preferences cannot be accommodated.

The daytime weather on the Gold Coast in October is an average of 24⁰C, it can reach a high of 26⁰C on the warmer days.

If you experience an emergency during GP18, alert the nearest RACGP or convention centre staff member immediately.

We ask that speakers register at the registration desk located on the ground floor of the Gold Coast convention centre upon arrival. You will then be directed to the GP18 speakers preparation room. Here you will be supported by an RACGP staff member and convention centre audio visual team members to ensure your presentation is loaded.

Venue/Location

GP18 is being held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC), Sydney which is located in Broadbeach on Queensland’s Gold Coast. The formal address is 2684-2690 Gold Coast Highway, Broadbeach, Queensland.

All plenary sessions, including the AGM, Convocation and Member Forum will be held in arena 2 with entry located on the ground floor of the GCCEC. ALMs and concurrent sessions will be held on both the ground floor and level 1.

RACGP staff and student volunteers will be on hand to provide directions within the convention centre.

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre’s car park entrance is at the northern end of the building, accessible from traffic lights off the Gold Coast Highway and the main driveway off TE Peters Drive. The car park is open 24 hours, 7ay days a week.

AGM and Convocation

  • 1. When will the AGM & Convocation be held?

Presently, the RACGP AGM and Convocation will be held on Friday 12 October from 4:00pm in arena 2 (main plenary theatre for GP18) at the GCCEC. Entry is via the doors located on the ground floor of the convention centre.

We suggest that you check the program regularly as the event draws closer in case of changes.

If an RACGP member would like to attend the AGM they can come to arena 2 at the GCCEC where they will be registered for the AGM and Convocation only. The RACGP team will have a full list of members and their voting eligibility at this registration desk.

The RACGP is currently planning child care services for GP18 and further information will be provided in the coming months.

The RACGP in negotiating discounted rates with various hotels near the GCCEC. You can book accommodation with these hotels as part of the registration process. If you’re already registered and now require accommodation, you can amend your registration and add accommodation.
